Mauro Icardi to Manchester United: Inter Milan captain reveals United made transfer offer
But the 22-year-old captain insists he's happy with life at the San Siro
Manchester United target Mauro Icardi has claimed that the Premier League club made an offer for him in the January transfer window.
The bid was rejected, however, with the 22-year-old insisting that he’s happy with life at the San Siro.
Despite continued interest in the Inter player, with reports suggesting that Jose Mourinho would look to bring the player to Old Trafford if appointed United manager, Icardi has admitted he would reject any further offers this summer.
When asked about the potential transfer, the Argentine told Corriere dello Sport: “I heard something, but I want to stay at Inter. My answer will always by the same: I want to stay here.”
He added: “If Manchester try again, it will not be the first club or the last that I refuse. I feel good in Milan and I will not leave.
“The club has a major project and is making big investments to get back to winning and I want to help out.”
The Inter captain has become a favourite amongst fans over the last two seasons in which he’s netted more than thirty goals for the Milanese club.
While United continue to struggle for a top four finish, Inter are facing their own fight for Champions League football having dropped 12 points behind leaders Napoli.
Should Mourinho take over in the summer, a huge transfer fee will clearly be needed to prise Icardi away from the San Siro.
