A Premier League footballer will face no further police action following an inquiry into alleged racist abuse.

Manchester City's Serbian defender Aleksandar Kolarov was accused following a dispute with two fans who were holding an Albanian flag at Newcastle United's St James' Park last month.

Police launched an investigation after it was alleged the fans were abused as the player warmed up on the touchline.

A Northumbria Police spokeswoman said: "We can confirm there will be no further police action."
