The trial of the Blackburn and Scotland striker, David Goodwillie, on a charge of assault, was yesterday adjourned until April.

Goodwillie, 22, denies attacking John Friel in Glasgow on 3 November 2010. He was due to stand trial at Glasgow Sheriff Court but his lawyer, Paul McBride QC, said that there had been a lack of co-operation from Friel and a witness.

McBride said: "The complainer in this case and another witness Matthew Flynn have refused to co-operate in the precognition process and in light of that, an application was made to Sheriff McFarlane for them to be precognised on oath tomorrow before a sheriff in Glasgow."
