Everyone knows Arsene Wenger once managed Monaco.
Most know he won the Ligue 1 title in his first season and the Coupe de France in 1991, before being sacked in early 1994 with the side languishing in 17th.
Wenger then went to Japan for a brief spell with Nagoya Grampus Eight before arriving at Arsenal, where he has been ever since.
The Independent looks back at Wenger's time at the Stade Louis II:
Wenger spent seven years in Monaco, winning one Ligue 1 title and one Coupe de France. He reached the Coupe de France final on two other occasions (though one of these was cancelled due to the Furiani Stadium disaster) and was a runner-up in the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1992.
He finished outside of the top three only once, and came second in two of his six full seasons. Monaco were defeated by eventual champions AC Milan in the semi-final of the 1993-94 Champions League. Wenger won 130 of his 266 matches in charge of the club, drawing 53 and losing 83.
