Beckham back training at Manchester United, but a return for David is unlikely as son Brooklyn trains with academy

Old Trafford could soon be cheering on Beckham once again after he took part in a training session yesterday at Manchester United’s Carrington training base. But despite former England captain David attending the session, it was his eldest son Brooklyn that was doing all the impressing as he joined in with some of the academy players at the club.

The 14-year-old has previously been a part of the LA Galaxy academy as well as training with Chelsea before he joined the Queens Park Rangers youth set-up.

Despite no confirmation from the reigning Premier League champions that Beckham had been taken on an official trial, it is believed that he will be invited back to train again as they look to secure one of the biggest names in football – albeit thanks to his father’s legacy.

The former right midfielder made nearly 400 appearances for the Red Devils having been part of the golden generation of the 1992 FA Youth Cup-winning team, which also featured club greats such as the Paul Scholes, Gary and Phil Neville and Nicky Butt.

Although Beckham had a long relationship with United, which saw him lift six Premier League trophies as well as two FA Cups and the Champions League success of 1999, his 12-year-old son has been training with rivals Arsenal in recent months, as well as watching the first team play from the Emirates Stadium stands.

Meanwhile, Beckham senior has been hitting the headlines this week as he looks set to push forward plans to start-up his own Major League Soccer franchise, with Miami reported to be his favoured destination.

Beckham, who retired from professional football in the summer after a final short-term spell with Paris St-Germain, has a clause in his LA Galaxy contract that allowed him the option of starting up his own franchise once he ended his career for a £15.5m fee – much cheaper than the going rate required to start a team in the United States.
