Best tribute track gets new release
"Belfast Boy", a tribute song written in honour of George Best at the height of his footballing fame, is to be re-released.
The tune, written by Don Fardon, was the soundtrack to a documentary about Best's talents in 1970. A new version is due to be released in the next week. "The lyrics are more or less the same but it's a lot heavier - it's a 2005 version rather than a version for the 1970s," Mr Fardon said.
Proceeds from the sales will go towards a memorial for Best, who died on Friday.
Officials have ordered restrictions on crowds attending the Saturday funeral. Up to 500,000 are expected in Belfast, but numbers in the Stormont estate will be kept to about 30,000.
