Brazil legend Ronaldo has announced he is going to return to football four years after retiring.

The striker, who scored 15 goals in World Cups, will end his four-year retirement to join the Fort Lauderdale Strikers, who play one level below Major League Soccer, in the NASL.

The three-time World Player of the Year and two-time Ballon d'Or winner, 38, enjoyed a stellar career with PSV, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, AC Milan and Corinthians, as well as the Brazil national team, where he scored 62 goals in 98 matches.

Ronaldo, who is a major shareholder in the Florida club, told Lance! that he is planning to return soon.

"It's going to happen," Ronaldo said. "I have already said so. But it's going to be a bit later, in the playoffs."

Ronaldo, who won the World Cup in 1994 and 2002, also revealed he is on an extensive weight loss programme.

"For now, we are organising it all, but I am going to have a [weight] goal," he added.
