FA Cup Round-up: Albion stroll past Wise's men

West Bromwich Albion heaped more woe upon Dennis Wise's Leeds United with a 3-1 victory in the all-Championship FA Cup tie at The Hawthorns.

Paul McShane put Albion ahead after six minutes before Kevin Phillips and John Hartson increased their side's lead. Paul Robinson's late own goal reduced the deficit.

Wise said of his Leeds side: "I think we're gradually improving, looking at the way they performed."

Aldershot of the Conference were beaten 4-2 at Blackpool after conceding two early goals. Scott Vernon and Andy Morrell put the Seasiders two up inside seven minutes but the Shots regrouped and John Grant reduced the deficit. Morrell later hit his second and a Ben Burgess penalty sealed Blackpool's passage into the fourth round before Mark Pritchard scored a second consolation goal.

Stern John's 81st-minute equaliser could have saved Coventry's manager, Micky Adams, his job as they came back from two down for a 3-3 draw at Bristol City. Colin Cameron put the visitors ahead before Steve Brooker, Enoch Showunmi and Phil Jevons scored. Leon McKenzie and John then forced a replay. "People were saying I'd be out by 5pm if we lost - well it is 10 past and I'm still here and still smiling," Adams said.

The Derby manager Billy Davies had the Arsenal youngster Arturo Lupoli to thank after his side eased to a 3-1 win over Wrexham at Pride Park. The on-loan striker scored a hat-trick.
