Apart from linking Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink with a possible move to Barcelona, the News of the World warns Chelsea fans not to be surprised if one of their front two leaves this summer, with Eidur Gudjohnsen said to be a target for both Roma and Lazio. Meanwhile, the Sunday People says Sam Dalla Bona is bound for AC Milan and reckons Nigerian midfielder Jay-Jay Okocha, who wants to leave Paris St Germain for Chelsea or Tottenham, is on Bolton's shopping list.

While the News of the World reports that Manchester United have agreed a £40,000-a-week deal to sign defender Roberto Ayala from Valencia for £14m, the Mirror reckons United have targeted England's Gareth Southgate to partner Wes Brown in their back four and may be prepared to offer Dwight Yorke for £4m in a trade with Middlesbrough, although on another page the Mirror names Juventus man Lillian Thuram as Sir Alex Ferguson's top defensive target.

The News of the World says the Birmingham City manager Steve Bruce is willing to offer his old Manchester United team-mate Dennis Irwin an £8,000-a-week deal. The Mirror claims Watford are also after Irwin.

The People says Birmingham will offer £2.5m to hard-up Coventry for former West Brom striker Lee Hughes and also want £1.2m defender and Israel national captain Shimon Gerschon. The Mirror links Birmingham with a double swoop on Bruce's former club Crystal Palace for Michael Hughes and Jovan Kirovski.

West Ham do not have the money to buy Muzzy Izzet from Leicester, clearing the way for Middlesbrough to complete a £6m deal, according to the People, who also say Aston Villa's George Boateng is likely to join Boro, while the Mirror says Villa have lined up Millwall's Tim Cahill to replace Boateng. The Mirror also says Boro are tracking Feyenoord's Dutch international defender Patrick Paauwe with a view to a £4m deal.

The People says Everton are to sell Thomas Gravesen in order to help fund bids for Derby goalkeeper Mart Poom and Ipswich midfielder Matt Holland. The Mirror claims Charlton want to launch a £4m bid for Holland and says Derby have set their sights on a £750,000 deal for Newcastle left back Wayne Quinn. The Express says Newcastle will soon complete the £5m signing of Ipswich defender Titus Bramble as a replacement for Manchester City-bound Sylvain Distin.

The People reckons Manchester City are stepping up their interest in young Italian striker Massimo Maccarone, while the News of the World says City have targeted Leeds striker Robbie Keane in a £12m raid. Sunderland want Leeds right-back Gary Kelly for £3m, according to the News of the World.

The Express says Arsenal are ready to sell £10m striker Francis Jeffers for a cut-price £6m as manager Arsène Wenger has supposedly lost faith in the injury-plagued former England under-21 player bought from Everton last year.
