Laurent Koscielny has been sent home from the France set-up because of an Achilles problem, creating yet more woe for Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger and his injury-ravaged squad.

Koscielny will now travel back to England for treatment on the problem after pulling out of the matches against Portugal and Armenia. The FFP say that it was a precautionary move.

The defender joins a list of eight other Arsenal players on the sidelines, joining the likes of Mesut Ozil, Aaron Ramsey, Mathieu Debuchy and Olivier Giroud.

The playmaker Ozil was treated by medics while on international duty with Germany, who said that he will be out for up to three months after arriving in Munich on Monday with damaged knee ligaments.

Arsenal are next in action after the international break, at home against Hull City on 18 October.
