Diego Maradona claims he will hold talks with an English club next month over becoming their manager. The Argentine, who stepped down as manager of his country after the World Cup, has already held discussions with Blackburn Rovers and his latest claims will reignite speculation that Venky's, the club's new owners, see him as their man for next season.

"In February, I am going to England to listen to a firm offer," Maradona said. "If they convince me, I may take it. I am not desperate, I know that some day I will coach another team."

Blackburn placed Steve Kean in charge for the season after sacking Sam Allardyce. The ex-Arsenal player John Jensen is expected to become Kean's No 2.
