A first-half penalty from Mista in the Mestalla was enough to beat Villarreal and take Valencia into the final of the Uefa Cup against Marseille.

Mista scored after he had been brought down by Juliano Belletti, and the goal took the home side through against their Spanish neighbours on aggregate after a goalless first leg.

Villarreal were positive throughout, Mohamed Sissoko and Jose Mari missing several chances to level the score.
