Whether Tim Sherwood will have the Tottenham Hotspur job at the start of next season is anyone's guess. The former Spurs midfielder took charge of the side in December following the sacking of Andre Villas-Boas after the team were thumped 5-0 at home by Liverpool.

It would be safe to say that he wasn't the first name that would have been at the top of every Tottenham fans' wish list, but since his appointment his honest and frank style of management and his openness towards the media has won over most of the White Hart Lane faithful but scepticism still lies.

At the start of his tenure he had to prove himself to the Tottenham board and after a positive start, he informed the board that they would either have to hire him on a permanent basis or lose him altogether. He was handed a two-year contract by Spurs' ruthless chairman Daniel Levy after they impressively won 3-2 at Southampton.

Since then Spurs have suffered, their league form has been patchy and they are currently on a poor run of games which has seen them only win twice in their last seven. This has led to questions being asked about the former England international's future at Tottenham, with a second-leg against Benfica in the Europa League to come, another defeat will cast further doubt over his credentials for the Tottenham job on a long-term basis.

Levy is known for not being afraid to swing the axe where he feels appropriate, so if Sherwood is removed from his position at the end of the season here is a list of candidates that could take-up the Spurs hot seat...
