Petrov confident Celtic can keep cool heads against Barcelona

Despite Barcelona losing 1-0 in the first leg at Parkhead, the Brazilianamazed Celtic fans and television viewers with a series of tricks and flicks and his stunning goal at the weekend against Real Sociedad in La Liga suggests the 24-year-old is on top form going into the return leg. Petrov, however, dismissed the notion that Barça are a one-man team and said his side will face similar problems to those they encountered in the first game.

He said: "Ronaldinho's not the only man in their team we have to look out for, they have another 20 good players. Every player in their team is important, not just him. If he's not got his teammates around him then maybe he's not going to be so good, so Barcelona is not just about Ronaldinho, it's about all the players. We need to score if we want to go through. We're quite confident and we'll go out to win the game as we always do."

Since losing in Glasgow in a tempestuous game, Barcelona have criticised the quality of the Parkhead side's play but the Bulgarian international denies Catalan criticisms will add spice to the Nou Camp match.

"Everybody has their own opinion but we try to play our game to win and it's up to them to say what they want," Petrov said. "But we have our style and we stick to it."

With the goalkeeper, Robert Douglas, losing his appeal against suspension after being sent off during the first leg, the 19-year-old David Marshall will start in goal for Celtic. Petrov insists he has every confidence in Douglas's replacement. "David is feeling good. He's been playing the last few games so his confidence has grown," Pertov said. The Bulgarian also revealed that the striker Chris Sutton could yet be fit in time for tomorrow night.

Meanwhile, Liam Miller could be a surprise selection. The 23-year-old signed a pre-contract agreement with Manchester United in January and was not expected to play for Celtic again. But, after proving his fitness following a long-term injury, Miller will join his team-mates on the flight to Spain.

* Craig Bellamy gave Newcastle United's morale a lift yesterday when he boarded the plane for Palma with a chance of playing in tomorrow's second leg against Real Mallorca. The striker, who missed Saturday's 3-1 victory over Charlton with a hamstring injury, has a chance of making the starting XI, although Shola Ameobi remains on standby.
