PFA tell young players to ignore the bad advisers

The Professional Footballers' Association are to wage an active campaign against agents who target young players. With the game awash with money at the top level, the players' union believe a lot of the game's brightest young prospects – and their families – are given bad advice.

"We are happy to give them all strands of advice and not charge them a penny," said spokesman Alex Black. "We are not élitist in any way, in fact it is quite the contrary.

"Basically the boys don't need an agent, so there should be no rush to get one. We advise all young players and their parents."

Muzzy Izzet has admitted his time at Leicester City could be coming to an end, and has already been tipped for a reunion with Martin O'Neill at Celtic. He said: "I've told my agent we will talk about any possible moves when I get back from holiday on 27 June. I signed a new three-year deal with Leicester at the start of last season. But I don't know if my future lies with them."

Derby's first-team coach, Steve Round, is joining Middlesbrough after compensation was agreed between the two clubs. Round will become reserve-team manager under new manager Steve McClaren.
