PM tackles racism and homophobia in football

The Football Association has been asked by the Government to come up with an action plan to tackle a variety of race and homophobia-related issues within two months after yesterday's summit on the issue at Downing Street.

"If everyone plays their role, then we can easily crush this problem," said the Prime Minister, David Cameron.

In an effort to encourage more people from ethnic minorities to become managers and coaches, the Government will give £3m towards the FA's new coaching centre at St George's Park and support a bursary scheme.

Among those at the meeting were Jason Roberts, John Barnes, Graeme Le Saux, Mark Bright, Garth Crooks and the FA chairman, David Bernstein.
