Pressure grows on Sam Allardyce to criticise vile chants by West Ham fans

Pressure was building on Sam Allardyce last night to condemn those West Ham United fans who were heard chanting racist abuse at White Hart Lane on Sunday.

When asked about the anti-Semitic chants in the aftermath of his West Ham side's 3-1 defeat to Tottenham, the manager said he had not heard them.

"If I didn't hear it, I can't condemn it," he said. "I'll wait and look at it myself and then I'll comment after I've listened to what they've said. They shouldn't be doing things like that. But it's the least of my worries at the minute."

Supporters and pundits on Twitter yesterday felt this was not good enough, and Allardyce will come under pressure to make a statement this morning when he conducts his press conference ahead of tomorrow night's game against Manchester United at OId Trafford.
