Manchester United striker Robin van Persie was pulled over by police earlier this week.

Pictures have emerged that show the Dutchman being pulled over on the M60 and then being spoken to by a female police officer. The 29-year-old, who was on his way to training, was let on his way without warning before driving off in his Range Rover.

The pictures were taken on Thursday morning, just hours after he scored from the penalty spot in Manchester United's 3-1 win over Burnley.

Van Persie is not the first Manchester United player to be involved in a driving related incident. In 2009 Cristiano Ronaldo crashed his Ferrari sports car into a roadside barrier in a tunnel near Manchester airport whilst on his way to training. The car was badly damaged, however Ronaldo walked away unscathed.
