Round-up: Fox pops up to spoil Warnock's return

Neil Warnock, Crystal Palace's new manager, had to settle for a point from his first match back in the Championship, a tricky trip to Blackpool. "Once we had taken the lead I thought we'd go on and win it," Warnock said. They didn't.

A 20th-minute Marlon King goal saw Watford beat Hull City 1-0 to stay unbeaten at Vicarage Road and stretch their lead at the top to six points. Bristol City went second thanks to a 3-1 win at managerless Norwich City, Michael McIndoe and substitutes Scott Murray and Lee Trundle on target. Darren Huckerby's solo effort was the Canaries' first goal in almost 11 hours of football.

Charlton Athletic lost 2-0 at Wolves to slip to third. Wolves improved after the break and goals by Jay Bothroyd and Karl Henry lifted them to fourth. West Bromwich Albion are down to fifth after losing 3-2 at Colchester, Mark Yeates scoring twice for the Essex side to take his season's total to seven. Stoke City surprisingly lost 4-2 at home to Sheffield Wednesday. Marcus Tudgay netted twice for the Owls, who stay in the bottom three and lost Francis Jeffers to a broken ankle.

Lee Martin, on loan from Manchester United, scored 16 minutes into his home debut for Plymouth. It was enough to beat Coventry City 1-0 and send Argyle into the top six on goal difference, edging out Barnsley, who were held to a 1-1 draw at Oakwell by Burnley.

There were also 1-1 draws between Sheffield United and Preston at Bramall Lane, James Beattie's late penalty, and ninth goal of the season, rescuing a point for the Blades, and Ipswich Town at bottom club Queens Park Rangers. Leicester City, having warned off Bolton from poaching their manager Gary Megson, had Iain Hume sent off on the hour, a Patrick Kisnorbo goal disallowed, but held on to draw 0-0 at Scunthorpe.

In League One, the match between Swansea City and Hartlepool United was postponed following the death in a car crash of Pool winger Michael Maidens.
