As if his hair wasn't bad enough, Joachim Löw's blue cashmere jumpers are the latest fashion craze in Germany. "We're completely out of stock", says the clothes giant Strenesse.

Spain joins Queens' club

The Queen of Spain will be at her team's semi-final, reports L'Equipe. We politely advise her to avoid studying our own Queen's attempt at watching sport, at Wimbledon recently. Ma'am, it's fair to say, was not amused (or interested).

Keep your tentacles crossed

He's turned! You'll recall English-born Paul, a two-year-old living in Germany, predicted 80 per cent of Euro 2008 games correctly. He has a 100 per cent record on German results in South Africa, including defeat to Serbia. Now he's picked Spain to beat Germany, spreading panic from Berlin to Bavaria. Paul, of course, is the mystic mollusc: an octopus who predicts by selecting a mussel from his favoured jar. German TV broadcast his prediction live. But Spain beware: he predicted Germany would triumph over Spain in Euro 2008, so struggles with this particular fixture.

Room with a vuvuzela

Wimbledon semi-finalist Tsvetana Pironkova hadn't booked herself a hotel room for the late stages of the tournament, so certain was she that she'd lose to Venus Williams. Fair enough. But now Fifa is hunting hotel rooms for the Dutch team. KNVB (their FA) wrongly presumed they wouldn't need rooms after 5 July. Dutch courage, anyone?
