Police have bailed three more people in connection with racist and homophobic chanting at a football match.

Hampshire Police released images of 16 men who are believed to have shouted the abuse at Portsmouth Football Club player Sol Campbell during a game against Tottenham Hotspur.

The photos show the suspects caught on camera by a police officer at the match at Fratton Park, Portsmouth on Sunday September 28.

Of the 16 suspects, police believe they have identified 12 and have now questioned and released on bail a total of five.

A 20-year-old man from Essex, a 15-year-old boy from Purley in Surrey and a 15-year-old boy from north London, were today interviewed and released on bail until January 21.

Last week, a 36-year-old man from Wokingham, Berkshire, and a 28-year-old man from Ringwood, Hampshire, who were arrested on Wednesday were bailed until the same date.

They were questioned on suspicion of indecent or racial chanting at a designated football match.

The remaining seven identified suspects will be questioned in the next few days.

A police spokesman said: "Officers have received a steady stream of information and names, however they are keen to stress that they would like to hear from anyone who recognises the remaining four people."

The offence of indecent or racist chanting at a designated football match under the Football Offences Act 1991 can be punished by a fine of up to £1,000 and can also lead to a football banning order.
