Tottenham and Arsenal in ticket dispute

Football League officials are expected to come to a decision by tomorrow over a ticketing row between Tottenham and Arsenal. The north London rivals will meet on 24 January at White Hart Lane in the Carling Cup semi-final first leg with the return leg a week later, but there has not been an agreement over allocations for away fans.

"Given police advice concerning fan safety, it will not be possible for the club to provide the full 15 per cent allocation to Arsenal as stipulated in the competition rules," read a statement on the official Spurs website.

Tottenham were given around 5,000 tickets for the Emirates Stadium leg, a reduced eight per cent allocation. They have also only given eight per cent of their capacity to away fans for the White Hart Lane leg, with 3,000 tickets made available to Arsenal fans until a decision from the Football League is made.

The Spurs statement confirmed: "Given that the club was unable to reach a satisfactory agreement with Arsenal with regard to ticket allocations for both legs of the Carling Cup semi-final, the matter has been referred to the Football League for arbitration."

Alex McLeish has confirmed he will be interviewed by the Scottish Football Association after emerging as a shortlisted contender to manage the national team. The 47-year-old former Rangers, Motherwell and Hibernian manager has been out of football since leaving Ibrox at the end of last season. However the SFA see him as a contender to replace Walter Smith.
