Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe was today given a trial date for charges relating to an alleged speeding offence.
The England and Spurs star has been charged with exceeding a 30mph speed limit and failing to provide the identity of the driver in Portsmouth, for whom he played at the time, on May 8 last year.
At a hearing at Portsmouth Magistrates' Court, which the 26-year-old did not attend, a trial date was set for January 4 at the same court and the case was adjourned until then.
