Howard Webb took the decision to abandon Saturday’s game at Spurs (AFP)
Howard Webb was stood down from being the fourth official at yesterday's game between Wolves and Manchester United.
The referee was in charge on Saturday when Fabrice Muamba collapsed in the FA Cup tie between Spurs and Bolton at White Hart Lane.
Webb, who was the referee for the 2010 World Cup final between Spain and the Netherlands, chose to abandon the game after consulting with managers Harry Redknapp and Owen Coyle.
Yesterday he was allowed time to recover from the trauma of witnessing the incident close hand. Referees' chief Mike Riley took the decision to remove him from the match rota.
It was reported that Mr Riley decided to act after consulting a psychologist.
