Steven Gerrard will be in action this weekend - despite currently being banned for his petulant stamp on Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera.

That's because the game taking place at Anfield is effectively in his honour - and with its friendly status - the suspension has no bearing.

The tribute match for the soon-to-be-leaving Liverpool skipper will see Gerrard captain one of the sides taking part, with old pal Jamie Carragher skippering the other. Among those involved are past and present Liverpool players and some real legends of the game, including Thierry Henry and Luis Suarez.

Here are all the details you need to know...

Who's playing?

Gerrard's team: Brad Jones (Liverpool), John Terry (Chelsea), Stephen Warnock (Derby County, formerly Liverpool), Scott Dann (Crystal Palace), Ashley Williams (Swansea), John Arne Riise (APOEL, formerly Liverpool), Anthony Gerrard (Oldham Athletic, Steven's cousin), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Kevin Nolan (West Ham), Charlie Adam (Stoke, formerly Liverpool), Jay Spearing (Blackburn, formerly Liverpool), Xabi Alonso (Bayern Munich, formerly Liverpool), Ryan Babel (Kasimpasa, formerly Liverpool), Thierry Henry (formerly of Barcelona and Arsenal), Luis Suarez (Barcelona, formerly Liverpool), Fernando Torres (Atletico Madrid, formerly Liverpool)

Carragher's team: Pepe Reina (Bayern Munich, formerly Liverpool), Peter Gulacsi (Red Bull Salzburg, formerly Liverpool), Alvaro Arbeloa (Real Madrid , formerly Liverpool), Jamie Carragher (formerly Liverpool), Gael Clichy (Manchester City), Martin Kelly (Crystal Palace, formerly Liverpool), Luis Garcia (Atletico De Kolkata, formerly Liverpool), Craig Noone (Cardiff City), Stewart Downing (West Ham, formerly Liverpool), Jonjo Shelvey (Swansea City, formerly Liverpool), Harry Kewell (formerly of Liverpool), Craig Bellamy (former of Liverpool), Didier Drogba (Chelsea)

When is it and where can I watch it?

The match is this Sunday, March 29th, kicking off at 3pm. It will be screened exclusively on LFC TV.

Why is it taking place?

Officially the game is a charity match for the Liverpool Foundation along with other local charities. With the match sold out, it's expected to raise over £500,000.

However, in addition to that the game is effectively a tribute to Steven Gerrard, who will be departing the club at the end of the season to join MLS side LA Galaxy.
