Out of the 32 nations involved, English clubs have received the most compensation from the governing body of the world game, Fifa, for letting their players go to the 2010 World Cup.

The nine clubs from England shared a combined total of £3.8m, ahead of Germany who received £3m. "We are pleased that we can share the success of the 2010 World Cup with the clubs," said president of Fifa, Sepp Blatter.
