Aaron Ramsey 'well within his rights' to refuse handshake with Arsenal fan Piers Morgan, says Ian Wright
The midfielder declined 'hand of peace' following draw with Chelsea on Sunday
Aaron Ramsey was "well within his rights" to refuse a handshake with outspoken Arsenal critic Piers Morgan, according to Ian Wright.
The Wales international snubbed Morgan in the aftermath of Sunday's 0-0 draw with Chelsea, seemingly in response to years of abuse from the broadcaster who was particularly critical of the midfielder during a poor run of form during the 2012/13 season.
"It must have got to him," said former Arsenal striker Wright.
"He's [Ramsey] a quiet, unassuming man and just gets on with his job.
"Piers was pretty vitriolic. He's very vocal about Arsenal and I thought Aaron was well within his rights."
Since the heavy criticism from Morgan, Ramsey has grown into one of Arsenal's most influential players and has retaliated before by pointedly asking 'who's Piers Morgan' in an interview.
In response, Morgan has referred to Ramsey as 'whatshisname' ever since.
It seemed the former Daily Mirror editor was keen to bury the hatchet having seen Arsenal draw with Chelsea at the Emirates on Sunday. However, Ramsey didn't feel the same way.
Ian Wright, who was speaking to Radio Wales Sport, said he has seen huge improvement in Ramsey since he joined Arsenal from Cardiff.
"To me Ramsey is one of the top players in English football, without a shadow of a doubt.
"There was a time when I thought it wasn't going to happen for Aaron, it didn't seem to click for him and people were losing patience with him.
"There were a lot of flicks, a lot of losing of the ball, and it wasn't just wasn't quite happening for him.
"But when it did click we just saw, for me, a world-class player."
