Andy Carroll in West Ham squad for Leicester meeting despite fallout with David Moyes over substitution

Carroll left the bench early during West Ham’s defeat to Manchester City due to his frustrations at not being introduced when Moyes made a triple-change

Andy Carroll will be in the West Ham squad for their battle with Leicester this weekend despite his clash with David Moyes earlier this week. The West Ham manager confirmed that Carroll had been fined, but having apologised to the squad and personally to Moyes the Scot said it was “done and dusted”.

Carroll left the bench early during West Ham’s defeat to Manchester City due to his frustrations at not being introduced when Moyes made a triple-change. He was subsequently sent home from training on Monday after refusing to apologise to his manager.

West Ham will continue to be without defender James Collins and midfielder Pedro Obiang due to injury, but the pair are back in training. Moyes did not give any indication as to who would start in goal, with Joe Hart now free to play after being ineligible against his parent club last weekend.

Moyes further explained Patrice Evra’s inclusion for that Manchester City defeat, and talked up Evra’s off-field influence, saying the experienced Frenchman had “been great around the club”.

“His professionalism has been at the highest level,” Moyes said “Two of his games have been against Liverpool and Man City, so we played him in those games because we understand how good he is and how many games like that he has played in during his career.”

West Ham know one more win should be enough to retain their place in the Premier League, and have three opportunities to do so, with games against Manchester United and Everton to follow Saturday’s contest at the King Power Stadium. Moyes said he has enjoyed the challenge of keeping West Ham up, and expressed a want for positivity in the squad.

“I go to Leicester with a positive mindset. We have three games to go and we can’t be downbeat. We have to go there with the aim of winning. I wouldn’t say we’ve deserved more points, but we’d be nearer mid-table if the season had started when we took over.”
