Liverpool have released footage showing progress on the redevelopment of Anfield stadium.

The Premier League club are increasing the capacity of the stadium from 45,000 to just under 55,000 in a bid to increase matchday revenue and compete with rivals with larger grounds.

The main redevelopment is taking place on the Main Stand, with room being made for an addition 8,500 spectators.

Video footage filmed from inside the stadium has been released by the club and shows the new roof taking shape over a period of 31 days.

It shows construction workers installing 250 tonnes of steel in between games.

In addition to the room for extra spectators, 1,000 new matchday roles will be created by the redevelopment. The stand will eventually comprise three tiers, a widened player tunnel, new team benches, wheelchair viewing positions and improved facilities for fans inside.
