Jack Wilshere’s Arsenal future still in doubt as Arsene Wenger claims ‘nothing has changed’

Wilshere, who has three months remaining on his Arsenal contract, will be able to leave for free at the end of the season if no new deal is agreed

Jack Wilshere has had his Arsenal future thrown into further doubt by Arsene Wenger after the manager’s claim that “nothing has changed” in contract negotiations with the English midfielder.

Wilshere, who has three months remaining on his Arsenal contract, will be able to leave for free at the end of the season if no new deal is agreed.

He has become an important player for Wenger’s side in recent months, and after a relatively unsuccessful loan spell with Bournemouth, Arsenal’s manager insists he sees Wilshere’s unresolved future lying with the Gunners.

“We make a proposal to him, I want him to stay and my desire is to see him linked to the club for the future. I hope he will do it,” said Wenger, who went on to state he believes Wilshere should be in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the World Cup in Russia this summer.

“Yes and I wish he is in the England squad. The vibes I get are positive. I believe he has a good chance to be in there, but we have to leave that to Gareth Southgate. I have enough to do with my job.”
