Per Mertesacker leads Arsenal's injury list for the Premier League clash against Chelsea on Sunday, with the German defender only "50/50" to play, according to manager Arsene Wenger.

The Gunners' vice-captain limped off in the second half of Arsenal's 2-1 FA Cup semi-final win over Reading last Saturday with an ankle injury.

"Mertesacker is still in the treatment room. I don't know if he's available," Wenger told reporters today.

Elsewhere, Wenger confirmed Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is still out with a groin injury.

The England international is set to be out until early May.

Captain Mikel Arteta is still sidelined, with Wenger saying the player is "short" for match fintess. The Spaniard underwent ankle surgery in January.

Chelsea are top of the table, 10 points clear of Arsenal. The Blues could be crowned champions on as soon as Wednesday 29 April, should they defeat Arsenal on Sunday and then Leicester City three days later.

Former Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas returns for the match, with Gunners manager Arsene Wenger calling on Arsenal fans to give him a good welcome.

"I want every player to be respected, and Cesc Fabregas when he comes to the Emirates on Sunday to be respected like he deserves," Wenger said.
