Arsenal move for Juventus goalkeeper
Arsenal are in talks with Juventus about signing their Uruguayan international goalkeeper Fabian Carini as a replacement for the Everton- bound Richard Wright.
The Goodison club will confirm the of Wright for £3.5m this morning, after the former Ipswich goalkeeper realised he had no future at Highbury.
The 22-year-old Carini, Gianluigi Buffon's understudy at Juve, has emerged as Arsène Wenger's first choice to eventually succeed David Seaman, who recently signed another one-year deal. Arsenal have asked to take Carini on loan for a season with the option of buying him for around £7m if the move proves successful.
Carini needs to be persuaded that he will be given enough first-team chances, but Wenger is quietly confident he will agree to the move.
Everton also completed the signing of the Brazilian Juliano Rodrigo yesterday. The 26-year-old Botafogo midfielder has joined on loan for a year with a view to a £3m permanent deal.
Rodrigo should make his debut in a friendly against the Scottish side Queens Park at Hampden tonight. Wright will not be pushed into the game but should make his debut against Dunfermline on Saturday.
