Arsenal news: Real Madrid target Aaron Ramsey with £25m bid - reports

Real Madrid are reportedly preparing to make a £25m bid for Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsey.

According to the Sun, Madrid value for the Welshman for his versatility and ability to play across the field behind a lone striker.

The La Liga giants are confident that the offer of regular football and a substantial increase on Ramsey's current £90,000-a-week salary will be enough to lure the player to the Bernabeu.

Ramsey’s own situation at the Emirates offers Madrid further hope of landing the player. Injury has limited the Welshman to just four appearances for Arsenal this season so far while the emergence of Alex Iwobi and Francis Coquelin have further hindered his return to the starting XI.

With Arsenal currently fixated on tying down Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil with new deals, Ramsey’s own contract situation has been overshadowed. The player is reportedly growing increasingly frustrated at the Emirates and could be tempted to make the switch.

A move to the Bernabeu would see Ramsey join up with compatriot Gareth Bale, yet another incentive for the 25-year-old.

Madrid currently face a Fifa transfer ban until January 2018 but are in the process of appealing to the Court of Arbitration for Sport. The club are confident of winning the case and Zinedine Zidane has already been given the green light to scout new midfield talent.

Ramsey recently remarked that he had made the “right decision” in joining Arsenal though.

"I went up there to see the facilities and I went to see Arsene Wenger," he told Sky Sports.

"He did a lot to try and get me to this club. As a 17-year-old, flying out on a private jet to his hotel [in Switzerland for Euro 2008] was surreal but I think I made the right decision.

"I just felt a bit more wanted by Arsenal and by the boss."
