Mikel Arteta heaps praise on Arsenal captain Aubameyang after FA Cup final win

Arsenal will begin the 2020/21 Premier League season against as Mikel Arteta aims to build on the club's FA Cup success.

The Gunners endured a tumultuous campaign last year, with Unai Emery sacked before Arteta finally took charge in December. Despite overhauling the squad's mentality and steadily implementing a series of improvements, the Gunners could only muster an eighth placed finish, but did manage to rescue a spot in next season's Europa League thanks to their FA Cup final victory over Chelsea.

The club has also been bolstered by the news that captain and talisman Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is set to sign a new three-year contract at the club, while Willian has also joined on a free transfer after his contract expired at Chelsea. The Gunners are still actively pursuing targets in the transfer window, and hope to finalise a deal for Lille centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes in the coming days. Prodigious French centre-back William Saliba will also be available for selection having returned from a season-long loan at St Etienne.

The Gunners open up against newly-promoted Fulham before a tricky trip to champions Liverpool in week three. The all-important north London derbies with bitter rivals Tottenham come in December and March.
