Arsenal's romp worries Rangers

Arsenal outclassed Rangers to record a 3-0 victory at Ibrox Park last night, with Edu, Lauren and Sol Campbell all on the scoresheet.

Lauren also had a penalty saved as the Gunners dominated the final hour after a strong start from Alex McLeish's men. The home side, who begin the defence of their League title on Saturday, must be concerned that Celtic did much better against Arsenal on Saturday by sharing a 1-1 draw.

In another Anglo-Scottish friendly, Harry Kewell scored his first goal for Liverpool as they bounced back from a poor performance in last weekend's Amsterdam tournament to beat Aberdeen 5-1 at Pittodrie.

The Australian international found the net for the first time since his £5m move from Leeds United early in the second half as Gérard Houllier replaced all 10 outfield players at the interval.

More embarrassment was on the cards as Liverpool fell behind to a goal after 60 seconds when another Australian, David Zdrilic, scored his first goal for Aberdeen. Liverpool equalised through Danny Murphy, but Florent Sinama Pongelle missed a penalty before half-time.

Emile Heskey continued his fine pre-season form with a goal five minutes into the second half when set up by Kewell, who netted the third before Neil Mellor added the final two.
