Lucas Torreira has underlined his unhappiness at Arsenal after his agent repeatedly hinted at the midfielder's desire to leave the club.

The Uruguayan, who was subject to interest from AC Milan over the summer, is dissatisfied with his role under Unai Emery, largely starting on the bench or playing in an ill-favoured advanced midfield role.

Speaking to Tiempo de Futbol, Torreira confirmed his willingness to look at his options in the upcoming January transfer window

“Today Arsenal needs me to be focused. I can’t start talking about another team,” Torreira said.

“I need to be focused and when the transfer period arrives we will see what happens.

“I don’t know what will happen in the future. But I would like to be able to play for Boca. It’s a dream I have for what that institution represents.”

Napoli are also reportedly now interested in Torreira, whose agent Pablo Bentancur recently told CalcioMercato: “I don’t want to name the teams out of respect, but I can tell you that Atletico had tried to take Lucas from Sampdoria two years ago.

“I must say that the change of role has penalised him sharply. He is no longer at ease and we hope that things can change.

“We have no problem with Arsenal but only words of thanks. Arsenal has allowed Lucas to compete in the Premier League, he has always been shown great confidence.

“Clearly there’s interest for Torreira, especially from Spanish clubs, but I have never sat down with any club to talk about his transfer.

“This is because of the great respect we have for the Gunners and their general manager Raul Sanllehi.”
