Arsenal manager Unai Emery said there is more to come from his team even after they dispatched Fulham 5-1 at Craven Cottage.

The thumping win, Arsenal’s ninth in a row in all competitions, moves Arsenal up to fourth place, ahead of Tottenham on goal difference. They are now in the best form of the post-Wenger era, but his successor Emery said that he hoped that this was not as good as it is going to get for Arsenal. Because he wants them to keep improving.

“I don’t think that this performance was the best,” Emery said after the game. “We can get better from this performance. It depends, in each match, on what is happening on the pitch in the 90 minutes. When we score the first goal we can play with more confidence. The first half was open, we had to defend moments. We worked hard in the second half to impose this result. We are happy, but also calm, because we know it is difficult in this moment. We continue the process with humility.”

Although Arsenal are on a great run, Emery called for “calm” and played down talk of his team winning the league this year. “We lost the first two matches against Manchester City and Chelsea, and we called for calm,” Emery said. “When we are winning now continuing matches, we need to be in the same way, our mentality, calm, work, enjoy, enjoy working, our feeling with our supporters like today. Also finding our best performance in each match, and our combination with the players and the system. We need to continue improving and we will.”

Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic was far from impressed with his team’s second-half performance. “In the second half they scored really easy goals,” he said. “We missed being more solid, more spirit, more effort. We opened all the doors for them, and they finished easily. We need to be more solid and better in these situations. We showed so many weaknesses for this level. Especially in the defensive side.”

Jokanovic was especially frustrated with how easy it was for Arsenal in the final minutes. “We surrendered in the last 10 minutes.” He said. “We did not show Premier League level. We need to be more solid, more competitive.”
