Chelsea arrived at the Emirates today in a hotly anticipated Premier League clash. The fallout of September's game left Diego Costa a villain after a clash with Gabriel that left Arsene Wenger fuming.
In a first clash with Arsenal since his return to Chelsea, interim manager Guus Hiddink has named ex-Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas in his starting line-up. The Spaniard was made captain in 2008 and has been replaced by an unlikely candidate.
Wearing the Arsenal armband today was Theo Walcott who is celebrating ten years as an Arsenal player. Initially only expected to lead the team out as a tribute, regular captain Per Mertersacker handed Walcott the armband.
With the ex-Southampton player not usually associated with being captain twitter has reacted with both confusion and ecstasy. Could this be the start of the greatest captaincy since Patrick Viera? Or will Walcott’s milestone go the same way as Wenger’s 1,000th game in charge which ended in a 6-0 drubbing.
Below we take a look at some of the best reactions.
