Unai Emery 'excited' by Arsenal's chances of winning the Europa League

Arsenal climbed to third in the Premier League table after earning a victory over Newcastle United at the Emirates.

Aaron Ramsey's first-half strike opened the scoring as the Welshman steered a low shot past goalkeeper Martin Dubravka and in off the far post.

Newcastle were fortunate not to have conceded earlier, when Ramsey found the net after a corner only for the effort to be ruled out for an innocuous challenge in the box.

The Magpies might have stolen an unlikely late point during a brief spell of pressure in the closing stages, but couldn't find a way to seriously test Bernd Leno in the Gunners goal.

And they paid the price when Alexandre Lacazette hooked a clever lob over Dubrakva to seal all three points.

So how did the two teams fare? See the gallery above for our player ratings.
