The Bolton manager Sam Allardyce is giving his survival fighters a break from relegation stress at Pontefract races today. Allardyce and his team will head for the horses before their fate is decided in the last two games. The side who tripped up Arsenal last weekend face Southampton on Saturday.

That game will be the last for the club for Florent Laville. The central defender will miss the final game against Middlesbrough as the Football Association confirmed yesterday that he will be suspended. Bolton had hoped to get the second of his two yellow cards from the draw with Arsenal rescinded.

Laville, on loan from Lyon, is expected to return to France.
