Bolton have today completed the signing of teenage left-back Marcos Alonso from Real Madrid for an undisclosed fee.

The 19-year-old has agreed a three-year deal at the Reebok Stadium and becomes the club's third summer signing following the arrivals of Martin Petrov and Robbie Blake.

Manager Owen Coyle told www.bwfc.co.uk: "He is an exciting young player who has undoubted quality and he will bring that into our mix. I think that we have a real talent on our hands.

"I have said before that when we are investing money in transfers that I want to do it with young, talented players. He isn't the finished article yet - he's a young player making his way - but you don't get through at Real Madrid without having a bit about you."

Alonso, who can also play on the left of midfield, joined Madrid at the age of nine and progressed through the ranks at the Bernabeu.

He made his one and only first-team appearance for the Primera Division giants as a late substitute in Real's 2-0 victory over Racing Santander in April.

Alonso has a rich footballing pedigree, with his grandfather having played for Real in the late 1950s and early 60s while his father spent five years with Barcelona in the 80s.
