Chelsea transfer news: Willian wants new contract and long stay at Stamford Bridge despite poor season

Willian has declared his intention to sign a new contract at Chelsea and play for the club for years to come.
The 27-year-old attacking midfielder has been the stand-out performer at Stamford Bridge this season, scoring eight goals in 29 appearances.
The Brazil international is currently three years into the five-year deal he signed on joining from Shakhtar Donetsk, in a deal worth around £30million, and is keen on extending his stay.
"The club knows exactly how I feel. I am very happy here,” he told The Sun. “It was always my dream to come here when I was playing in Ukraine the realisation of a dream. I want to stay.
"But at the same time my head is calm I am just going to see how things go. I’m happy.
"I tend to not get involved in that side of things too much. I leave it up to my agent to deal with it but the club knows exactly how I feel."

Show all 10Willian has also claimed there is ‘no explanation’ for his side’s feeble defence of the Premier League crown, as Chelsea find themselves in the table’s lower regions, 19 points behind league leaders Arsenal.
“The team were champions last season. There's no explanation to give as to why this is all happening,” he told the Daily Telegraph.
“But as players we know we made mistakes at the beginning of the season and this is why we are in the position we are in today,” he added.
“It is hard to keep positive when everything is happening, but this is part of football.
“You lose one game, you know you have the next. You have to keep moving forward, stay positive so you can do better.”
