Jose Mourinho was mercilessly mocked on Twitter following his humbling return to Stamford Bridge as Chelsea hammered Manchester United 4-0.

The agony started immediately for Mourinho as his former side took the lead within 30 seconds of kick off when Pedro made the most of some lax United defending to round David De Gea and score.

Gary Cahill doubled the lead before half time following yet more poor marking from the visitors, with Eden Hazard scoring a fine breakaway goal for the third after half time.

N’Golo Kante took advantage of lazy tracking by Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba to score a well-taken fourth before Mourinho berated Antonio Conte for his wild celebrations after the final whistle was blown.

Mourinho took exception to Conte jeering up the crowd, accusing the Italian of trying to humiliate him, although one look at social media after the game and the Manchester United boss would have gladly have watched his Chelsea counterpart fist pump to the crowd again.

Things got worse for Manchester United fans after the final whistle as Jose Mourinho confirmed Eric Bailly’s knee injury was “really bad” and could be out for a long time.
