Crystal Palace vs Liverpool player ratings: Virgil van Dijk and Naby Keita impress for the visitors
A player-by-player look at the two teams
Liverpool emerged victorious from a tricky trip to Selhurst Park where they beat Crystal Palace 2-0 thanks to goals from James Milner and Sadio Mane.
Moments before the half-time whistle referee Michael Oliver pointed to the spot after Mohamed Salah went to deck following a coming-together with Mamadou Sakho. Milner calmly converted from the spot to put the visitors ahead.
Palace fought well in search of an equaliser but suffered a telling blow with 15 minutes remaining when young full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka was sent off for bringing down Salah on the edge of the box when the forward was through on goal.
Liverpool clinched the match from a similar counter-attack in stoppage time when Salah sent Mane racing clear and he kept his feet under Patrick van Aanholt's challenge and rounded keeper Wayne Hennessey to make it 2-0.
