After Fernando Torres injured his knee during Chelsea's 3-1 victory over Manchester United on Sunday, manager Jose Mourinho said he would now call upon the forgotten man of the Blues' attack, Demba Ba, and that was all the motivation Ba needed - he went from bench-warmer to bench-presser and headed straight to the gym for a midnight work-out.

The Senegal striker has started just 13 Premier League matches for Chelsea since joining the west London club last January, and appeared to be on his way out of Stamford Bridge, with returns to West Ham or Newcastle mooted, but it now seems he will be a key figure for the Blues as they mount their Premier League challenge, with Mourinho saying it is his "time".

"Now we lose Fernando for a few weeks with something in his lateral ligament [in his knee] and that is why we have Demba in the squad," Mourinho said after match.

"It's time for Demba. It's a pity because Nando [Torres] is in a good moment, but it's time for Demba," the Portuguese added.

By the looks of his Instagram page, Ba then performed this plate clean and jerk after hearing the news, posting this video in the early hours of this morning.
