Sergio Aguero

Has Manchester City’s surprise defeat away to Newcastle United on Tuesday night dampened expectations for their forthcoming double gameweek?

Perhaps, though Pep Guardiola’s side will be looking to respond and regain lost ground on leaders Liverpool.

From the moment this double gameweek was announced, managers began putting plans in place to buy Sergio Aguero.

As with almost any City player, Aguero is a rotation risk and Gabriel Jesus could easily take minutes or even starts off him, but it only seems sensible to plump with one or the other.

Leroy Sané

At slightly less risk of rotation is Leroy Sané. The winger of the mainstays in our tips of late but disappointed on Tuesday, picking up just two points.

Expect better when an injury-ravaged Arsenal defence visits the Etihad on Sunday and against Everton at Goodison Park next Wednesday.

The only worry with Sané is the returning Benjamin Mendy, who tends to play ahead of him on the occasion that he is fit.

Richarlison

Sticking with double gameweek players, Richarlison returned to scoring form in midweek after a lean spell in front of goal.

An early season favourite, Richarlison’s goal against Huddersfield Town was his first since Boxing Day and came as a welcome relief to his 1.5 million owners.

With few winning options to pick from at Everton and priced still at just £6.8m, the Brazilian is our pick from Marco Silva’s squad.

Patrick van Aanholt

Among defenders playing just the one game this week, Crystal Palace’s Patrick van Aanholt offers attacking promise and clean returns.

Roy Hodgson’s side welcome Fulham to Selhurst Park this weekend and the adventurous Van Aanholt will harbour hopes of breaching the top-flight’s worst defence.

Fulham come into the game with momentum after their remarkable 4-2 turnaround win on Tuesday night but Brighton’s M23 rivals should have too much for them.

Raul Jimenez

Up against double-gameweekers Everton, Raul Jimenez catches our eye for his upcoming schedule as much as this weekend’s match.

After their trip to Goodison, Wolverhampton Wanderers face Newcastle (H), Bournemouth (A), Huddersfield Town (A) and Cardiff City (H).

Jimenez’s midweek brace against West Ham stands him in good stead for a favourable run of fixtures and the Mexican has shown he has assist potential too.

Honourable mentions: Neil Etheridge, David Luiz, Bernardo Silva, Son Heung-Min, Ashley Barnes.
