Ross Barkley

The highest-scoring player last weekend and the bandwagon of the week since, Ross Barkley is an undeniably tempting option for those looking at budget midfielders.

Priced at just £5.9m, having seen a £0.2m rise already this week, the Chelsea midfielder appears to muscled in front of Mateo Kovacic in Maurizio Sarri’s thoughts.

Can he sustain the form that has brought three goals and three assists in his last three outings? Maybe, maybe not, though if he does, he is a must-have.

Benjamin Mendy

One of the most popular picks at the start of the season, Benjamin Mendy’s ownership fell during his spell out of the Manchester City side with a foot injury.

Almost 1.4m managers moved the 24-year-old in the space of three weeks, though many are scrambling to squeeze him back in now he has regained his place.

Mendy is often City’s main outlet on the left wing and offers excellent creative potential. With Southampton visiting the Etihad this weekend, he should be part of any top-heavy defence.

Isaac Success

With several excellent but expensive options emerging at the back and in midfield, saving money up front seems a sensible idea.

Watford’s Isaac Success may not immediately spring out from a list of options but, at just £4.5m, he is hard to ignore.

Success has started Watford’s last two, scoring against Huddersfield on Saturday, and allows funds to be easily redistributed around your squad.

Fabian Balbuena

More of a short-term punt than a long-term pick, Fabian Balbuena is another cheap option, only this time at the back rather than up front.

Balbuena opened the scoring in West Ham’s 1-1 draw at Leicester City last week, though we are more enticed by his clean sheet potential this time around.

Sean Dyche’s Burnley visit the London Stadium on Saturday with only four goals on the road, while the Hammers search for their second clean sheet.

Gylfi Sigurdsson

An old fantasy favourite Gylfi Sigurdsson is starting to deliver for Everton and is across set-pieces for Marco Silva’s side.

Brighton and Hove Albion, Everton’s visitors this weekend, are deceptively shaky on set plays and could be punished by Sigurdsson’s delivery.

The Iceland international is on penalty-taking duties too, of course, after scoring at Old Trafford last time out.

Honourable mentions: Lukasz Fabianski, Michael Keane, James Maddison, Roberto Pereyra, Marko Arnautovic.
