Bruno Fernandes

Manchester United may have run riot against Sheffield United in spells but Fernandes blanked away from home for the first time since joining the club back in January, disappointing managers after being the most-captained player.

Even so, we’re keeping the faith for Sunday’s renewal of old rivalries with Leeds. Marcelo Bielsa’s side may pose a threat of their own but they still have the second-worst defence in the top flight and will leave plenty of space for Fernandes to operate in.

Mohamed Salah

Salah keeps scoring. The performances may not always be there but the goals are, even if they are somewhat fortunate like his deflected strike in Wednesday’s win over Tottenham or the penalty which snuck underneath Alphonse Areola last weekend.

When Salah is scoring, he is close to essential. Liverpool have a number of away games up next starting with a trip to Selhurst Park this weekend, but they are all fixtures in which the Egyptian could excel.

Ollie Watkins

Of all the teams struggling at the wrong end of the table, West Bromwich Albion have been the ones to target. That may suddenly have changed though, what with the 1-1 draw away at Manchester City, Slaven Bilic’s subsequent dismissal and the appointment of Sam Allardyce.

Can Allardyce have an immediate impact and tighten up the top flight’s worst defence? If not, Aston Villa and Watkins stand to profit. Dean Smith’s side endured a frustrating goalless draw against Burnley but have fared better away from home.

Romain Saiss

A top early season pick appears to be back in favour. Saiss suffered from Nuno Espirito Santo switching to a four-man defence at Wolves but their tried and tested back three returned against Chelsea in midweek.

Burnley offered next to no attacking threat against Villa and Wolves’ decent defensive pedigree points to clean sheet potential. Saiss has already chipped in with a goal this season too, scoring on the opening weekend against Sheffield United.

Harry Maguire

Back to Old Trafford, where Leeds’ defence will be looking to improve on their dreadful defensive record from set pieces. Bielsa’s side have conceded eight times from dead ball situations already.

United’s attacking record from set pieces is modest - just three goals this season - but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be looking to take advantage with Fernandes’ delivery and Maguire offers an imposing threat.

Honourable mentions: Robert Sanchez, Tariq Lamptey, Jack Grealish, Daniel Podence, Marcus Rashford

Captaincy: Bruno Fernandes
