Ferguson waiting on Ronaldinho verdict
Ronaldinho's future will be decided by a series of meetings with officials from his club Paris St-Germain starting tomorrow. A final outcome is due on Friday, which gives the Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson 48 hours to sweat over whether he will land his major summer transfer target.
While the 23-year-old's proposed £11m move was never scheduled for completion until after the Confederations Cup, which Brazil were eliminated from on Monday, ends have taken longer to tie up than United thought.
"We will be speaking to PSG a lot over the next few days," confirmed the player's agent Roberto Assis this afternoon. "They want him to stay but there are many things to discuss and it is too early to say what will happen."
One player who appears not to be joining United is Patrick Vieira. "There have not been any inquiries for Patrick Vieira from Manchester United," David Dein, the Arsenal vice- chairman said yesterday. "And even if there was to be an inquiry he is not for sale."
Vieira has a year left on his contract but the likelihood of Harry Kewell arriving at Highbury and Robert Pires' decision to sign a new deal may encourage him to stay at Arsenal.
