Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard is set to return to Premier League action on Sunday against Newcastle after almost a month on the sidelines with a groin injury.
Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez said today that the England midfielder can play a key role in keeping the club's slim title hopes alive with four matches remaining. The Reds trail leader Manchester United, who have a game in hand, by three points.
"Steven is doing well and is training with the rest of the team," Benitez said. "I think he will be fit and available for Sunday.
"It is good news for the team and for him because he can be a key player for us over the remaining games."
Gerrard last played in a 3-1 loss to Chelsea on 8 April in the Champions League.
